The Schottenfest is a new cultural music festival celebrating the traditions and the historic Gaelic links between Ireland, Scotland and Vienna.

Das Schottenfest ist ein kulturelles Festival, in dem Berührungspunkte und gemeinsame gälische Traditionen, die Schottland, Irland und Wien verbinden, neu geweckt werden.

29th November 2017 – SCHOTTENFEST DAY 1
18:00 – OFFICIAL SCHOTTENFEST LAUNCH

An introduction to Gaelic. Key note speeches by the Vienna Songwriting Circle, The Embassy Of lreland & Partners. Music by John Spillane, Antonia Ni Norica and the Vienna Songwriting Circle. Join us for a tribute to the culture of the Gael.
21:00 – TRADITIONAL MUSIC SESSION – MOLLY DARCY’S IRISH PUB Teinfaltstrasse 1010 Vienna.
Hosted by Antonia Ní Norica & Friends – Entry Free

30th November 2017 – SCHOTTENFEST DAY 2
1300: THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOTTENSTIFT A historical presentation on the history of the Schotten in Vienna and Austria
by Diarmuid Ó Rían. Presentation will take place at the Molly Darcys’s Irish Pub Teinfaltstrasse 6 1010 in Vienna“s 1st District. Spaces are limited to 40. To book your ticket please visit our website http://www.schottenfest.com Tickets: €10 and include tour of the historical Schottenstift.

14:00: THE VSC ACOUSTIC SESSION.

Artists include Stuart Neville, Mark Peters, Shane Ó Fearghail, Vienna Songwriting Circle, The Songwriting Collective (Ire) Tradtional musicians – as well as some very special guests!

20:00: SCHOTTENFEST WRAP PARTY
‚Das Heinz‘- Rudolfsplatz 12 1010 Vienna
The final event of this years Schottenfest will showcase songwriters from the Vienna Songwriting Circle – with performers from Austria, America, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Africa, England, Scotland… and many more. Entry is free.
